High-flying Eccleston claimed a comfortable 84-run victory over strugglers White Coppice.

Coppice didn’t get the rub of the green and succumbed to their 10th defeat of the season.

Bowling first Marcus Eaton took four wickets as Eccleston reached the halfway stage of their innings at 89-4.

However some late order hitting saw the home side close on a competitive 188-9 from their 45 overs.

Skipper Jamie Maitland top scored for Eccleston with 44 whilst Andrew Pearson hit 38.

Tailenders Dec Tracey (18) and Iain Bradley (15) chipped in with crucial double figure scores.

In reply Coppice captain Tony Moore was given out LBW but all the time Kyle Dixon was at the crease the visitors were in the hunt.

However he fell for exactly 50 as White Coppice were bundled out for 104.

Nasaar Afsar was the pick of the Eccleston bowlers returning figures of 4-10 off 6.3 overs.

The defeat ensures White Coppice stay rooted to the bottom of the Division One table whilst Eccleston remain four points outside the promotion places.

Mawdesley’s poor form continued as they were beaten by 17-runs against Fulwood and Broughton seconds.

Neil O’Malley took 4-45 off 13 overs as Fulwood posted a challenging 211-9.

Darren Lemarinel also took 3-59.

In reply. skipper Matthew Watkinson, Nick Marsden and Alex Berry all made starts but neither made it past 50.

Extras (42) was the top scorer for Mawdesley as they were bowled out for 194.

Longridge seconds made light work of Withnell Fold at the Newsham Memorial Cricket Ground.

Only Graham Green (27) offered any resistance as Fold were bowled out for 81.

James Hughes took two wickets in the Longridge innings but the hosts chased the target inside 18 overs.

In Division Two, Whittle-le-Woods defeated New Longton by 40-runs.

James Proctor top scored with 46 as Whittle closed on 199-7 off their allocated overs.

Stu Barnish hit 44 and Faruk Chadbu chipped in with 33.

In reply, Terence Markham took 4-36 as New Longton were bowled out for 159.
