An excellent start for Chorley Cricket club away at Shrewsbury CC as the hosts posted a below par 168-8.
Losing the toss and bowling first Shrewsbury had an excellent start posting 46 for the first wicket.
But a great piece of work from Chris Harty off his own bowling saw Will Parton ran out. Harty then struck the next ball as Steve Leach
through his hands at a wide delivery and Billy Smith took an excellent catch.
Shrewsbury then found themselves 51-3 off 15 overs as all rounder Will Moulton removed the Shrewsbury batsmen giving skipper Andy Holdsworth a simple catch.
The wicket seemed to be one for the batsmen and the overs of spin from Iain Critchley and Gaurav Dhar needed to be tight.
And Critchley didn’t fail to dissapoint as he struck instantly claiming his first wicket of the match LBW.
A middle order partnership took Shrewsbury to 98 for the loss of four wickets but then Dhar showed his quality and claimed with wicket of Shrewsbury captain
Rob Foster LBW with an excellent googly.
Seamer Kieran McCullagh whose overs were saved for the final stage of the innings was brought into the attack and claimed a wicket with his fourth ball leaving Shrewsbury struggling at 133-6.
Moulton then claimed his second after replacing the bowled out Dhar and it was the pro taking the catch as the Shropshire outfit were 142-7with two overs to play .
McCullagh then grabbed his second but some lusty blows from Shrewsbury meant they finished 168-8 with murmours around the ground saying the batting side finished a good 90 runs short.
