It was a mixed weekend for Michael Atkinson Jnr’s Withnell Fold as they suffered another Premier Division defeat but advanced in the Meyler Cup on Sunday.
On Saturday, Fold were convincingly beaten in the league by BAC/EE Preston.
Batting first, only skipper Atkinson (56) hit double figures as they were bowled out for 105.
Lee Fowler took two wickets with Khalid Valimulla and Nick Fowler taking one each but BAC chased down the total with some ease inside 30 overs.
The Meyler Cup brought Fold’s first victory of the 2014 season as they defeated Whittingham and Goosnargh.
Batting first, they posted an excellent 192-7 off 40 overs.
A fluent 75 from Josh Cunliffe along with 22 from Alan Grogan and an unbeaten 22 from Atkinson saw Fold post a competitive total.
Whittingham were never in the game as Abdul Aziz Patel claimed 3-40 with Atkinson taking 3-18.
