THESE pupils from a Chorley high school are celebrating after winning a host of trophies at the Chorley and District Athletics competition.

The whole day event takes in the athletic events of long jump, high jump, shot putt, javelin, discus and all the track events, finishing the day with the team relays.

The St Michael’s team comprising of students from all years competed magnificently with wonderful effort and many personal bests.

Year seven went into the event with the difficult task of following in the footsteps of their predecessors.

They ended the day victorious winning the year seven overall team event.

Year nine and 10 were not to be outdone delivering their own titles after some outstanding performances particularly from the girls 4 x 100m relay.

Year eight were narrowly beaten by a good team performance by Holy Cross year eight.

St Michael’s took the overall trophy for the 18th consecutive year.

A spokesman for the Astley Road school said: “The students, staff and everyone associated with St Michael’s are exceptionally proud of some quite brilliant performances. “Well done Team St. Michael’s.”
