Chorley’s Chris Harty rewrote the history books when he broke the club’s 46-year-old Division Two bowling record on Monday.
He took 4-37, as Darwen made 106-7 after 34 overs at Windsor Park.
The in-form opening bowler now has 54 wickets, surpassing Dave Sherrington’s previous record of 52 set in 1965.
Dave Catterall’s unbeaten 38 off 51 balls steered Chorley to victory with 10 balls to spare to keep the pressure on leaders Leyland.
The 1st XI saw their game at Darwen fall victim to the weather.
Darwen were struggling at 58-4 off 20.5 overs, before it started raining and there was no further play.
Left arm opening bowler Billy Smith continued his fine form with 3-22 off 10 overs.
It was a good day for the Smith house as his elder brother Tom hit 117 and took four wickets for Lancashire in their CB40 win against Nottinghamshire.
