CHORLEY FC manager Garry Flitcroft believes that the Boxing Day clash with Marine is an opportunity to get themselves back in the promotion race.
The ex-Blackburn Rovers ace thinks it is mouth-watering tie and the club need all their supporters to get behind them.
He said: “It is a big chance to claw back and take some points off one of the top teams.
“I have got every confidence in the lads that they can do it.
“Christmas brings big games like this one and we need to get a win.
“I have told the lads in the last six or seven games that they have not to let their heads get down.
“We are all in this together and we just have to get through it.
“In those matches we have lost by the odd goal but in fact we had enough chances to win the games.
“It is just one of those things.”
Flitcroft strengthened his ranks last week by bringing in Keil O’Neil to add to the re-signing of striker Darren Stephenson from Southport.
He is hoping that injuries and suspensions do not plague the club in the second half of the season just as they did in the first half of the campaign.
He said: “The squad has been affected and I want to get a strong team out.
“We are only five points short of sixth place and I think that if we take on some of the bigger teams and get results then we can go up the table.”
