A goalkeeper from a golden era in Chorley FC’s past has thrown his weight behind the CFC 200 Club campaign.
Tony McMahon was one of the mainstays of the Magpies’ famous FA Trophy side of the 1970s.
The 64-year-old was in goal on the night the club pulled off one of its biggest giant killings – defeating Wimbledon to book a place in the FA Trophy
Now more than 30 years on, ‘Macca’ is lending a hand again – after snapping up one of the golden tickets in the CFC 200 Club draw.
Tony, who runs his own business, AKM Fabrications in Chorley, said: “Chorley FC will always have a special place in my heart. I spent four happy years there as a player and we were very successful during that time.
“The FA Trophy was an obvious highlight. We pulled in a few crowds in the region of 6,000 to 7,000 during that cup run, and the whole town was buzzing.
“Now it’s great to see the good times returning under Garry Flitcroft.
“When the club does well, it lifts the whole town.”
Tony has joined more than 100 businesses and individuals in signing up to the CFC 200 Club so far.
Now in its second year, the CFC 200 Club executive raffle is open to businesses and individuals from across the region.
The format for the 2013 draw is the same as last year: the club has 200 golden tickets up for grabs, with each one costing £200.
Every company or individual that buys a ticket will have a chance of winning the top prize, which is a fantastic sponsorship package worth £12,000 and the chance to be on the front of the Magpies’ home shirts next season.
In addition, there are also nine runners-up prizes, ranging from hospitality packages in the club’s Guest Lounge, to tracksuit sponsorship packages, advertising boards on the ground, and corporate season tickets.
CFC 200 Club members will also be honoured in a newly created Hall Of Fame – a special section on the club’s website where members can promote their businesses.
In addition, all members of the CFC 200 Club will receive two free tickets to a VIP gala dinner on April 19, where the draw will take place to decide the winners. The event includes a champagne reception and canapés, two-course buffet, and entertainment.
And as an extra bonus, members will also receive four free tickets for the club’s final home game of the season against Ashton United, on
