Waywell's Victory Park mission
Magpies boss Steve Waywell wants Chorley to be his last club.
And the former Leigh and Hyde United manager revealed he has turned down offers to manage elsewhere this season.
"I'd like Chorley to be my final manager's job, I'm here for the long haul," he said.
"I love it here and it makes me very sad to see where they are, how far they've fallen, but it just fuels my desire to get them back where they belong.
"I've had a couple of good offers this season, I mean for more money, but that's not what I want.
"It is the club for me – not the money. It costs me out of my own pocket to manage Chorley, but I've no aspirations to go
anywhere else.
"I see reviving Chorley as my final mission."
Waywell, who took charge after Tony Hesketh returned to Lancaster, added: "Chorley have had some hard times, other clubs wouldn't have kept going.
"There's been no hint of success for 10 years. No cups, no promotions, not even a decent FA Cup run.
"I'm desperate to change that, to put Chorley back on the map again."
The Magpies are on course for their best league finish since 2003, but Waywell is aiming much higher.
He added: "When I came here last May there were four players left, so I had to start again, we've had to build a new team.
"To be in the top half is a good effort, but this is just the start. I want Chorley to be the biggest team in this division, and we can be next season.
"If we could get promoted Chorley would take off, and the rest would look after itself as this is such a well-run club under Ken Wright.
"I want to get Chorley back to the Conference and maybe
further – it can be done.
"We had nearly 500 through the gate against Lancaster last weekend, and if we could put a winning team out then we'd have 700 or 800.
"There's a great tradition and fan base, and if I can add a bit of experience and quality to the squad, there's no reason why we can't make a massive challenge."
Chorley saw their midweek date at Salford frozen off and Waywell faces his old club, now re-branded Leigh Genesis, at Victory Park tomorrow.
"They were enjoyable times at Leigh, with three promotions, and I want to repeat that. When I played here in the 80s, Victory Park would intimidate the opposition. I want to bring that mentality back.
"I'm building a strong foundation, now I have to put the walls and the roof on.
"Chorley's still a name to be immensely proud of, and it is time they got back there."
