THE weather played havoc with the local sporting calendar, as football and rugby sides saw their games called off.

In the Evo-stik Premier League Division, Chorley FC were preparung to play high-flying Bradford Park Avenue but the game was called off after the West Yorkshire pitch failed a midday pitch inspection.

Elsewhere, in the Evo-stik First Division North, the Bamber Bridge management team of Neil Crowe and Neil Reynolds made use of their time when their game against Ossett Albion was cancelled.

They travelled to Clitheroe to take a look at their Boxing Day opponents AFC Fylde, who ran out impressive 6-2 winners.

In the West Lancashire Football League, Charnock Richard’s trip to Stoneclough, Coppull United’s match against Thornton Cleveleys and Euxton Villa’s tie with Eagley were off.

For the second week running, the Chorley Nissan League and Chorley and District Alliance League saw all their games called off.

Chorley RUFC were also frustrated by the cold snap with the first and second team matches abandoned.
