A body has been found in the grounds of Chorley hospital.
The discovery was made at around 5.40am this morning (Thurs) next to the two-storey car park close to Euxton Lane.

The man, who has not yet been named, was found hanged.

Detectives are currently attempting to trace the next of kin.

Insp Damian Kitchen, of Lancashire Constabulary, said: "Shortly after 5.40am emergency services attended to a report of a deceased person being found on the Euxton Lane side of the multi storey car park at Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital.

"The inquiries are under way and at this stage the incident is not beng treated a suspiscious."

The car park is for staff only but appeared to be open as normal this morning.

A spokesman for the hospital said this morning that the police had taken over the investigation.

The spokesman for Lancashire NHS Teaching Hospital Trust said: "We can confirm that a body was found at a car park on Chorley hospital at 5.40am."

It is understood that the man was not a patient at the hospital and no-one had been reported missing from the wards.
