Runners from the city remain stuck in Portugal because of the ban on flights following the Icelandic volcano.
Twenty-eight members of Preston Harriers were still unable to fly out of Faro yesterday due to the ash cloud above Britain.

The team, who had been in Portugal for a two-week training camp, had been due back in the UK last Thursday when the volcano erupted and grounded planes across much of Europe.
