Autumn will be the season of sci-fi both nationwide – with the BFI’s DAYS OF FEAR AND WONDER – and locally, where Future Preston Tours will screen classic films and stage a range of events and concerts

There will be aliens in the park and Dredd in the air this Autumn in Preston as the city takes part in a nationwide celebration of all things sci-fi.

Throughout October and November the British Film Institute’s (BFI) SCI-FI: DAYS OF FEAR AND WONDER will be running all over the UK.

Preston’s very own They Eat Culture (TEC) are working with the BFI and Film Hub North West Central to present Future Preston Tours, a season of film, theatre, music and all things sci-fi.

Four classic sci-fi movies will be screen, beginning next month with E.T The Extra Terrestrial.

A spokesmand for TEC said: “We’re bringing this heart-warming classic to life for a new generation!

“Help E.T. return home and join us for a moon-lit cycle ride, interactive performance and a one-off exclusive screening in Avenham Park.

“Our one-off cinema season will take you on a journey of discovery, leading you to unexpected venues for an exclusive film experience.”

Four films will be screened as part of the Future Preston Tours season, with the latest Judge Dredd adaptation Dredd shown as part of the Guild Hall’s Comic Con event on October 25, with LOgan’s Run and the original Tron shown in November (22 and 29 respectively) at locations yet to be confirmed.

Alongside the screenings will be a range of events including TEC’s touring travel agency, talks, and workshops at The Continental and special sci-fi Trash Cinema, quizzes, and a future rock & roll sci-fi social club at The Ferret in Fylde Road.

Tickets forthe E.T. event are already on sale, costing £10 for adults and £7 for children.

Step inside E.T and his world starting at 5pm on Friday October 10 in Avenham Park with a magical bicycle ride to Christ the King Catholic College for 6.30pm and a screening of Steven Spielberg’s family masterpiece.
