The Dukes Gothic cinema season in Lancaster continues on Saturday with a screening of Nosferatu The Vampyre (12A), a stylish remake of Murnau’s 1922 silent classic.
Like the original, Nosferatu follows the story of Bram Stoker’s Dracula as Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to meet a mysterious count, only to discover his host is a vampire.
Ghost Stories At Christmas (PG) on December 15 is a double bill of chilling tales.
Lancaster actor Steve Tomlin will give a spooky fireside reading followed by a screening of The Signalman from the BBC’s spine-tingling series.
On December 22, The Innocents (12A), is Jack Clayton’s celebrated screen adaptation of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw starring Deborah Kerr.
Before the screening, there will be a 10 minute introduction to the film by Dr Sarah Post from Lancaster University’s English and Creative Writing Department.
The final Gothic film of 2013 will be The Haunting (12A) on December 27 but watch for more events in the New Year.
