Us footy fans had been worried about the so-called 39th game – where Premier League football would be played globally to promote the sport.
But the games’ mandarins lost out in the planetary sports race as both basketball and American football staged competitive matches in the UK.
Now a surprise third game is heading to the nation that gave sport to the world.
Kabaddi, the first Indian league with an international footprint, is bringing the World League to London at The O2 Arena.
And Bollywood’s leading superstar Akshay Kumar will give a dazzling performance on the inaugural day of the World Kabaddi League in London.
He will be performing popular title tracks from his recent movies.
Akshay is also the co-owner of one of the teams of the League by the name of Speedy Singhs. The other teams include California Eagles, Haryana Focus, Yo Yo Tigers, Vancouver Lions, United Singhs, Khalsa and Royals USA.
Matches take place at 1pm on August, Saturday-Sunday 9/10.
Meanwhile, if Indian culture is your thing, the Bollywood Showstoppers are returning to The O2 this Sunday.
Headlined by Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Ali Zafar and Jacqueline Fernandez, they are performing for the first time in the UK and supported by musical sensation Mika Singh and the spectacular Bolly Flex dancers, the four-hour spectacular is filled with extravagant entertainment, from jaw-dropping high energy dance performances to live blockbuster musical acts that will keep you on the edge of your feet.
It starts at 5pm.
