Visitors to the Kenlis Arms in Barnacre are in for a treat next month when Brooklyn-based songwriter Annie Keating will be on hand to entertain.

The singer is well-known for her rich, earthy voice and for delivering truly amazing arrangements.

She has already gained a great reputation over the course of her four previous albums, but on her fifth, For Keeps, released to widespread acclaim earlier this year, she really shines.

Its beautifully-crafted songs, combined with musical hooks and punches, knock the listener in the chest, making the album an instant classic.

With refreshing honesty, grit and timelessness, Keating and her band achieve a sound that is complex and simple, new and vintage.

A long-time favourite of BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, Keating appeared live on his show in 2008 and 2011 and has gone on to perform at numerous leading national and international festivals, including Take Root (Netherlands), the Glasgow Americana Festival (Scotland), the NJ Folk Festival, NXNE in Canada, NEMO and MEANY music fests and the Mountain Stage NewSong finals.

She has performed on the bill with the likes of John Hiatt, Dan Bern, Natalia Zuckerman, Bon Iver, Hot Club of Cowtown, Anne Heaton, Boris McCutcheon and Shannon McNally.

Her Garstang Unplugged date at the Kenlis Arms Hotel on Ray Lane is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at 8.30pm.

Tickets are available by calling Garstang Unplugged on 01995 602795 or by filling in the contact form on their web site at www.garstangunplugged.com

If you can’t make it to see Annie Keating at the Garstang venue she will also be appearing in Southport’s Festival of Americana, From A Distance, at The Atkinson on Lord Street on Saturday, September 21.
