The people of Longridge are gearing up for an outdoor music festival which is the first of its kind in the area.

Scarfest was developed from an idea the Festival
Director had one morning.

Nine months later and the committee behind this event is ready to deliver what
promises to be the greatest music festival that Longridge has ever seen.

It takes place on Saturday, September 21 on the
agricultural show field behind Lower Lane.

The bands are booked with music ranging from pop and indie to heavy metal and rock.

The headline act is a funk band from Manchester called Grand Old Juke.

The other bands come from Wigan, Bolton, Preston and London.

There is even one band from Marseille in France called Lilith to Kill.

Scarfest will also be supporting local talent.

Having decided to only feature quality bands with a solid track record of successful gigging, the Festival Director was thrilled to find amazing talent on the doorstep.

The festival will be opened by Longridge-based One Minute and another Longridge band – The Rain – are also appearing on the day and making the short trip from Clitheroe is Blackmamba, who are regulars on the local scene.

There will be a beer tent on the site, along with food concessions and interesting stalls selling all types of festival essentials.

The youngest festival goers are also catered for with face-painting, bouncy castles and circus skills workshops.

All the profits raised on the day will go to local charities.

The online box office is open 24 hours a day at www.scarfest.co.uk.

There is also a physical box office at Yorkshire Building Society on Berry Lane, Longridge duringnormal office hours.
