The Voice contestant Emma Jade Garbutt joins the line-up at an event to celebrate country singers and songwriters at Preston’s Mad Ferret tonight.
Also playing will be Gary Quinn, Jess Roberts and Melanie Greggain at the In The Round night at the Fylde Road pub.
In the Round sees this select group of country artists taking the stage together to share their own songs, along with the stories and inspirations that brought them into being.
Emma, who was on Welsh star Tom Jones’s team when she appeared on The Voice, is still only 18.
But she made an impact from early on – she once broke a microphone because she sang too loud!
Her love of country music stars, including Dolly Parton and Miranda Lambert, led her to fulfil a dream last year by performing in Nashville, the home of country, in front of 3,000 fans.
Singer songwriter Gary Quinn retains a modern sound while giving a nod to stars of the past.
Originally hailing from Ireland, he was runner-up in the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival’s Songwriting Award in 2010, and has since been invited to play in Nashville itself several times.
Teenager Jess Roberts is a newcomer, but has already been nominated for the Horizon Award at this year’s British Country Music Awards, while singer songwriter and musician Melanie Greggain was raised on country music and has trained in London.
She has recently been touring the UK, showcasing both her own self-penned tunes and her interpretations of classic country covers.
The In The Round night is a unique experience for country fans, offering the chance to get an insight into the writing and musicianship behind some of the UK’s up and coming stars of the genre.
It goes ahead at the Mad Ferret tonight from 7pm. Entry will be £3 on the door.
