Lancaster Castle’s resident professional theatre company Demi-paradise Productions perform their evergreen celebration of Christmas in words and music from tonight to Saturday.
They present festive verse, prose, songs, carols, stories and pantomime in the splendid setting of the castle’s historic Shire Hall.
This year’s Deck the Hall with Boughs of Holly is compiled and directed for the third time by Helen Longworth, who also performs.
Helen has been heard in countless BBC radio dramas and serials whilst locally she sings with jazz combo, Quay Change.
Making her Deck the Hall debut is Lancaster’s own Downton Abbey and The Royal actress Christine Mackie, previously seen in Richard III for Demi-Paradise.
The five actor/readers are joined by female a cappella singing stars Five in a Bar.

Outrageous comedy horror play Christmas Sorority Massacre is back at Manchester’s Three Minute Theatre next week.
It’s Christmas Eve 1980-something and the college kids of Backwards Falls are unable to go home for Christmas due to that damn blizzard. With the body count rising and clichés coming faster than a straight-to-DVD sequel it’s up to the intellectually-challenged Sorority Girls to save the day.
Christmas Sorority Massacre was an audience favourite when it first opened two years ago.
The show stars some of Manchester’s best known and most talented fringe actors but is not suitable for under-16s. For tickets, email the box office at www.quaytickets.com
