Much-loved children’s character Spot the dog comes to Lancaster Grand Theatre today and tomorrow for a special birthday party.
Spot’s Birthday Party is adapted by David Wood, from the popular stories by Eric Hill.
All of Spot’s friends, including Steve the Monkey, Helen the Hippo and Tom the Crocodile, will be there, and there is even a special guest appearance from Marco the Rabbit Magician.
David Wood is renowned as the UK’s premier children’s playwright, and also brought classics like The Gingerbread Man, The BFG and the Meg and Mog Show to the stage.
Here, he takes Hill’s characters and weaves them into a bright, colourful entertainment, in a musical reworking of his original production of Spot’s Birthday Party.
The show lasts around 55 minutes and is aimed at children aged two and over.
Children should come dressed for a birthday party, and Spot would also love to receive home made cards.
The show visits Lancaster Grand for a 1.30pm matinee performance today and is back for a morning show at 10.30pm and a matinee at 1.30pm on Wednesday. Tickets are £12 or £10, and are available from the box office on 01524 64695.
