Barry Humphries’ Farewell Tour will be at Manchester Opera House next week, giving regional audiences a chance to bid fond farewell to Humphries’ unforgettable characters: the Honorable Sir Les Patterson, Sandy Stone and, of course, the iconic Dame Edna Everage.
The ‘housewife superstar’ has played the West End and Broadway on numerous occasions, performing to packed theatres including the Royal Albert Hall at the Last Night of the Poms, as well as countless performances for the Royal Family.
Act One of Eat Pray Laugh! On this tour features Stone and the inebriated cultural attaché Sir Les Patterson.
After the interval Dame Edna promises to “empower” audiences as she meditates on the big issues of gender, ethnicity and climate change.
This show is directed by award-winning Australian theatre director Simon Phillips, who directed the original Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
The show runs from Tuesday to Saturday.
