Blackpool’s very own Dancing on Ice star Dan Whiston is to star as The Prince in this year’s Grand Theatre pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

He is to join comedy actress Su Pollard and BBC Radio Lancashire and Grand panto favourite Steve Royle.

Dan is best-known for appearing on ITV’s Dancing on Ice as a professional skater in the show for all nine series.

He is the most decorated professional in the series after he and his respective partners were thrice named Dancing on Ice Champions (2006 with Gaynor Faye, 2010 with Hayley Tamaddon and 2013 with Beth Tweddle).

Poulton-born Dan began skating at seven, spending most of his early years at the Pleasure Beach’s Ice Arena before and after school. He trained professionally with Phil Winston in dance, drama and singing.

Career highlights include being lead skater in the Pleasure Beach’s Hot Ice Show, touring with Grease on Ice and Disney on Ice in America, as well as in the European Tour of Holiday on Ice with Robin Cousins and performing in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing on Ice.

Daniel has skated at the Royal Variety Performance, alongside Coldplay at the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, and was associate choreographer at the Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies that year.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs runs from December 4 to January 3.

Musical theatre hit Priscilla Queen of the Desert, starring Duncan James as ‘Tick’, below, returns to Manchester Opera House next Thursday for nine days of performances.

As one quarter of pop band Blue, Duncan has sold more than 16m records, had three number one albums and 40 hit singles worldwide.

Stage credits include the role of Warner Huntington III in the West End production of Legally Blonde and Billy Flynn in Chicago.

Based on the movie, Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical is the adventure of three friends on a battered old bus searching for love and friendship but who end up finding more than they could have ever dreamed of.

With outrageous costumes and a hit parade of dancefloor favourites including Go West, It’s Raining Men, Say a Little Prayer, Hot Stuff and Always on My Mind, it originally opened in Australia and after a sell-out two-year run, came to London’s West End followed by Broadway.

Joan Armatrading brings her first – and last – world tour to Blackpool Grand Theatre on Sunday night.

After 42 years in the music business it seems remarkable that the feted singer-songwriter should be undertaking her first world tour, but she emphasises it does not mean she is about to quit.

Three times Grammy-nominated, double Brit nominated and winner of a coveted Ivor Novello Award, she has 20 albums to her credit including her most recent, Starlight, released in 2012.

Joan’s music ranges from jazz, soul, blues and pop, and is served up by a master craftsman with distinctive vocals and skilled musicianship

She has arranged as well as played nearly every instrument on the last three of her albums.

Joan will perform highlights of the last four decades of her career.
