Helping put food on the table for families in Preston
Community Gateway Association has distributed more than 1,500 food parcels to needy tenants across the city who are struggling to manage.
The organisation is being supported by local supermarkets and also Preston Minster to provide groceries (inset) which are being delivered to tenants’ doorsteps.

Hide AdThe housing association is also working in partnership with FareShare, the city council, schools, faith organisations and charities to get food to those who urgently need a helping hand.
“We are running our own food hub twice a week, delivering essential supplies to our customers who we know might be particularly affected, such as elderly or self-isolating, whether in sheltered (housing) schemes or in the community,” said head of service Julie Lee.
“Colleagues have been busy making up and delivering food parcels to homes across Preston. We are proud to say that since the crisis began we have distributed more than 1,500 food parcels to Preston households.
“Naturally we couldn’t do this essential work without the support we receive from local businesses and organisations including James Hall (Spar), Booths, Morrisons and Preston Minster and we want to thank them all.”

Hide AdCGA has also introduced a mobile pantry service which delivers a range of essentials like fresh fruit and veg, tea bags and other staple items for a nominal charge of £5.
