The teenage crush that led to the altar

And what better family occasion is there, than a wedding.

Back in 2000, 14-year-old Nicole Putman developed quite a crush on Michael Farrar.

“I used to stalk him,” says the legal executive from Singleton.

“We briefly got together two years later when I turned 16 but it wasn’t until 2005 that we finally got serious.”

Five years later, in January 2010 Michael, a creative director at icansee web design, invited Nicole out on a date.

“Michael sent some flowers to my work asking me out to Yu Yu’s restaurant,” says, Nicole, “I didn’t have a clue it was for a proposal as he did this quite often.”

The couple enjoyed a “wonderful meal” which was finished off in style.

“The ring came out in a champagne glass and Michael got down on one knee in the restaurant to propose,” adds Nicole, 
“obviously I said, ‘yes’.”

The couple, who live in Michael’s hometown of Blackburn with their five-year-old son William, were married at St Mary’s Church, Osbaldeston, three days before Christmas on December 22.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Samlesbury Hall near Preston.

“Everyone had a bit of Christmas cheer to make it an extra special atmosphere,” says the couple, “it was a great day and a lot of people have said what a fantastic wedding it was.

“The venue looked stunning and the night time reception was brilliant.

“We had a wonderful band supplied by Craig Music and DJ Chris Turner.”
