Police in Preston pursued a car through Plungington last night.

Officers say that the Toyota Yaris failed to stop for a patrol on Aqueduct Street at around 2am.

A short pursuit then begin and the car was brought to a stop in Eldon Street where a man was arrested, they added.

A spokesman for the police said: "The car was originally spotted by a dog patrol unit early this morning.

"The car then failed to stop and went through a red traffic light.

"The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving and document offences."
