Cabus Nook Lane in Scorton closed as a Mercedes van crashes and falls into a canal

A road in Scorton has been closed since late last night (Wednesday, October 26) following a crash involving a van.

Lancashire Police say they were were called at around 10.45pm to a report of a collision in Cabus Nook Lane, Cabus, which occurred near to the junction at Park Lane. It was reported a Mercedes van had come off a bridge into the canal running parallel.

Emergency services attended with the driver, a man in his 30s, being taken to hospital for treatment.

The road is closed to allow recovery of the vehicle today (Thursday, October 27), and the canal remains blocked. Police advise motorists to find alternative routes in the meantime and thanked them for their patience.

Sharing an image of the scene to Twitter at 1am, Lancashire Road Police said: “This van driver was lucky to walk away with only minor injuries after crashing and ending up in the canal! He was reported for the due care offences by #TacOpsT1”
