All downhill for dad if you send him up the Big One
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is offering the perfect present for interpid dads this Father’s Day – a climb and an abseil of the UK’s tallest rollercoaster, the Big One.
What could be a better gift for dad than to walk the 420 steps to the summit of the iconic coaster then abseiling 235ft down to sea level, being watched by the people he loves?
Comfortably Britain’s most famous rollercoaster, when it opened on May 28, 1994, the Big One was both the tallest and the steepest ride in the world.
Despite a handful of newer rides elsewhere having taken its record, the Big One remains the highest in Britain.
Now, the 42-acre Pleasure Beach has teamed up with outdoor thrill-seeker specialists Yamba UK to give you the chance to book your dad on this once-in-a-lifetime experience when the event takes place from September 22-26, for just £99.
This will include the climb, the abseil, an exclusive certificate and a souvenir mug.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Walk the Big One events have been a massive success, with each selling out just weeks after they were placed on sale.
It is the best chance to see panoramic views of the world famous tourist attraction, with jaw-dropping views of the iconic Blackpool Promenade, the mountains of the Lake District to the north and the stunning Fylde coastline to the south.
You can purchase this unique voucher now by booking it online at www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com, where you will be able to select a date and a time slot for the climb and abseil. You will then receive a voucher through the post, which can be redeemed on arrival for your special day.
Nick Thompson, deputy managing director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said: “Abseiling the Big One is a thrilling experience, something that will probably only happen once in a lifetime and this is an amazing chance to do it.
“The Big One is an iconic rollercoaster and walking the steps to the summit is an experience in itself.
“Combine that with abseiling 235ft to the ground and you have something unique and special which dads will treasure forever.”
All participants must be physically fit and must sign a disclaimer. Full terms and conditions are available online at www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com.
