Bez: Come rave on at the Castle

Well, the iconic Madchester star is to play a DJ set in the county next month, at any rate.

The Reality Party member announced the next set of A-Wing shows at Lancaster Castle in a well meaning but ultimately fairly rambling Christmas message over the festivities.

Bez – real name Mark Berry – who is campaigning to end fracking in the UK, broke from his prepared text to reveal that Hacienda DJs Mike Pickering, Graeme Park and Tom Wainwright will be DJing at Lancaster Castle on February 14.

Former M People kingpin Pickering recently performed with DJ peer Dave Haslam at a party at Morecambe’s Winter Gardens as part of the Vintage Festival, while both led a workshop at More Music in Morecambe last September.

The next A-Wing weekend kicks off the previous day (February 13) with the world-renowned disco DJ Dimitri from Paris taking to the turntables, presenting a set that draws on four decades of dancefloor music. DJ support comes from Kid Blast and Jamie Scahill.#

A-Wing staged a series of succesful events at the former HMP last year, a venue the organisers say is unique in Europe.

The events take place between 9pm and 3am on both nights, and entry is £25 plus booking fee.
