Hide AdThe ENO is widely regarded as the world’s leading producer of Britten’s operas and it was here that Peter Grimes was first premiered almost 70 years ago, in 1945.
The opera contains some of the most evocative music ever written, with the wildness of the sea and instability of Peter’s mind superbly reflected in Britten’s powerful score.
Alongside the searing psychological drama, intrigue and suspense, it is little wonder that Peter Grimes has come to be regarded as among of British composer Britten’s finest works.
Broadcast in multi-camera HD, the story centres on a small coastal fishing village in Suffolk.
