Gothminister take a walk on the Dark Cide to star at city’s new goth festival

The new festival, which is headlined by Norweigan band Gothminister, takes over the whole of the city’s 53 Degrees, organised by the promoters of the club’s regular Goth night, Dark Cide and Electro Cide.

The main downstairs concert hall will host the Dark Cide stage from 4.430pm until 3am while the smaller upstairs club room holds the Electro Cide stage from 7.30pm onwards.

As well as Gothminister flying in specially to top the bill, the new festival features performances from reformed 1980s Gothrock stars The 
Marionettes, William 
Control, Cure tribute band The 
Cureheadsb and great new band, Obscure Pleasures.

And opening up the evening will be the last ever chance to see reunited local Goth stars, Squid, who originally helped to inspire the organisers of the Dark Cide night, are reforming especially for the festival to play one last ever show.

Dark Cide organiser Jane Dalton said: “Squid were kind of the reason Dark-Cide 
happened in the first place back in March 2001.

“Goth-industrialists, forever tagged as ‘The Brit Marilyn Manson’ back in the day, they’re playing for the first time in 10 years and will be their very last ever show. We can’t wait.”

Upstairs, the Electro-Cide Stage stars German duo Phosgore, playing hard electro-stomp, who previously played at Dark Cide back in 2011 and got a riotous response.

Also on the upstairs stage are London based sleazy synthpunks, Mechanical Cabaret, electronic duo Pretty Addicted and a great line up of DJs, including Presley, D-Ject and Cheeky Cyber Chappie and DJ Grimly Fiendish, of Misery of Sound.

And the Sophie Lancaster Foundation will be running a stall at the event.
