Inspirational guitarist Dave Gardner is staging a special gig at the Korova Arts Cafe on St Wilfrid’s Street under his Teach Guitar Preston brand.

Dave Gardner said: “As part of my guitar teaching practice I like to offer some of my talented young students the chance to use the skills they have developed and play live in front of an audience.

“This time I’ve booked the great Michael Chapman to play a special one-off show at Korova on the bank holiday Saturday. Michael is a stalwart of the 60s UK singer/songwriter boom and his contemporaries are Nick Drake, John Martyn, Cat Stevens and Bert Jansch etc.

“Michael has also played and recorded with many well known artists such as Elton John.

“He’s always in the top 50 in the best guitar player polls in guitar magazines and he has had his songs covered by a wide range of established artists such as Lucinda Williams and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth).

“This time I’m having 16 -year-old Chris Miller from Garstang on the bill.

“Chris recently passed his Grade 8 with a merit which is some going for such a young lad, but he can really play.”

The full line up is Michael Chapman, Dave and co-Hellfire Preacher Matt Wells plus Chris Miller.

Dave added: “Michael actually gave Chris a masterclass lesson about 18 months ago and was quite blown away by the lad’s ability!”

Tickets: £10 from Dave on 01772 733930 or the Korova on 01772 250701.
