Made of Stone...but on film

The Stone Roses: Made of Stone was directed by Shane Meadows of This Is England fame. He’ll be taking part in a satellite question and answer session after the film which begins at 7.30pm.

Shane was invited by The Stone Roses to film them at work and in their everyday lives when they decided to re-form last year.

The sensational Shaolin Warriors return to the Grand Theatre in Blackpool on Sunday night.

Their remarkable theatrical performance showcases the Kung Fu masters’ feats of agility, strength and skill.

Featuring Buddhist meditation and rigorous martial arts training, the show is one of stunning scenery, atmospheric music and hundreds of costumes.

It’s all been choreographed by the team behind the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, featuring 22 professionally-trained Kung Fu masters and is aimed at audiences of all ages.

An exhibition celebrating a range of outdoor arts events across Lancaster in the past year is being staged at the city’s Dukes gallery.

Beyond Our Walls features images from events in Morecambe, Lancaster and the Lune Valley, including Light Up Lancaster and A Phoenix from the Ashes, in November last year; the Kite Festival in summer 2012; and the Lancashire Witches 400 project, which included the commissioned poem by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy.

Beyond Our Walls runs until June 1 and The Dukes gallery is generally open from 10am to 11pm, Monday to Saturday, but check first.
