The festival, which runs from today until Friday, December 13, features innovative performances by students on the university’s acclaimed Music Practice course.

In venues across the city, including Korova Arts Cafe, Blitz club, The Adelphi and the university’s Media Factory and Mitchell and Kenyon Cinema, the festival is organised to celebrate the work of students who have organised all the shows themselves. Events begin today with Parameters at the Korova, in St Wilfred’s Street, with original pieces by first year students exploring parameters in music, performances from MA students Chris Jones,
Xiaowei Zhu and Adam Simpson and installations from second year undergraduates, showing that anything that makes a sound can be used for music.

And on Wednesday at 5pm, Preston band Mobius Loop take over the Harris for a show entitled Drones.

Music practice course leader Les Gillon said: “The aim is to give our students a chance to get out of the university and perform in the public arena.”

For details of performances, see the www.uclan.ac.uk/courses/ba_hons_music_practice.php or search UCLan Music Practice on Facebook.
