Star will shine for Eva at Charter Theatre

A show that pays tribute to a legendary singer, whose life was tragically cut short at the age of 33, will be leaving audiences spellbound at Preston’s Charter Theatre next month.

Songbird: The Music of Eva Cassidy stars actress and singer Sarah-Jane Buckley who has made her name as one of the world’s leading Eva Cassidy interpreters.

Supported by an on-stage live band, video footage and classic Eva Cassidy arrangements, critics have hailed Sarah-Jane’s performance as a “tour de force that is nothing short of phenomenal.’’

She plays Eva to perfection and has worked tirelessly to make her voice an almost exact copy of the original.

Sarah-Jane said: “I want the audience to feel like they have seen Eva Cassidy live.

“I wanted to bring her truly beautiful arrangements to life. When I first heard Eva on Terry Wogan’s radio show her voice stopped me in my tracks. Her vocal range and emotional effect was spellbinding and I was hooked.’’

The show is on at the Charter Theatre in the Guild Hall complex on Wednesday, February 4 and audiences will have the chance to hear over 25 of Sarah-Jane’s unique interpretations of well known songs including Songbird, Fields of Gold and Over the Rainbow.

Eva interpreted melodies from a variety of musical categories including jazz, blues, soul, gospel, folk, country and pop.
