Talented Preston musicians FirstnameFrank and Jamie Brewer have teamed up to create a beautifully haunting cover of Slade’s Merry Christmas.

Think Donnie Darko version of Mad World or the cover of The Smiths’ Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want from the John Lewis advert.

Go online and prepare to be moved by its ethereal wonder.

The pair play the Ferret, on Fylde Road, on Sunday when just £2 will let you see four Preston acts live – that’s a mere ten bob an act.

Adam Shaw Ivan Campo will be playing a “rare solo set of his wonderfully understated, lush melodies”.

Jamie’s exquisite guitar play is something to behold while FirstnameFrank is technically brilliant.

Meanwhile, Bill Orrick “fuses a vocal power and clarity akin to Jeff Buckley with an alternative songwriting style influenced by the likes of Tori Amos and Radiohead”.

“A man, a piano, a one bedroom flat, a laptop, a small collection of microphones, musical trinkets, and songs.

“FirstnameFrank is a simple new project from Frank Beaver, past-time band leader of a six piece vaudeville punk troupe, star27, and long-time teacher of piano, music, and media.

“Full-time reader, part-time painter, real-time drinker.

“No promises, no deadlines and no complications; FirstnameFrank material will be uploaded here as it is recorded, and played live in venues as it is invited.

“While a one man band at its essence, collaborations in performance and production will happen from time to time and offers of such will always be welcome.”

“Acoustic instrumental lap-tap artist Jamie Brewer has won over audiences at the Forest Of Galtres festival, he has played numerous live sets for BBC radio including BBC Introducing, and is fast becoming known as a must see live act that manages to send audiences silent within seconds of his opening set.

“Be prepared for WTF guitar skills.”
