The Lancaster University Theatre Group takes over the campus’s Nuffield Theatre from today until Sunday with their version of the dark tale of The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Taken from the hit novel by Hugh Wheeler, the music and lyrics were added by the musical genius Stephen Sondheim to turn this drama into what is now widely considered to be his ultimate masterpiece.

ruined his life.

But, as the body count begins to rise at his barber’s shop, he forms a dreadful alliance with landlady, Mrs Lovett.
