You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs (oh no, you can’t) and you can’t have a panto without jokes.

In Preston Musical Comedy Society’s production, expertly directed by Cheryl Nicholls and Julie Oldfield, the comedy is first class as Bill and Ben (Joe Pollard and Ryan Upton), the clumsy bailiffs, are sent by tartan-clad Squire McGreedy (Mark Howard), to turf Mother Goose out of her home. Peter Taylor is a wonderful Mother Goose in wigs and costumes any diva would love. Her children, Billy (Michael Phelan) and Jill (Laura Tombs), share her delight when the most beautiful goose ever to grace a Preston stage arrives.

Princess Priscilla (Julie Oldfield) knows every step of the eggs-citing choreography and her seven-foot frame towers over the village. Golden eggs are laid, Mother Goose becomes rich and Priscilla returns home to King Proper Gander (geddit?) (Philip Smith) and Queen Goosegog (Anne Arkwright).

This panto has the lot! Great song and dance, stunning costumes and scenery, lively pyrotechnics - and a talented cast! Mother Goose runs till Sunday December 22. Tickets on 01772 721835.
