The 25-year-old from Ribbleton, was three votes short of winning Manchester’s Frog and Bucket ‘Beat the Frog’ series final last November but, where one door closed, another opened, and Lewis set about organising his new comedy nights.

Lewis, who will host the evenings said: “The idea behind the event is to establish a dedicated comedy night in the heart of the city for an affordable price.

“The night is designed to bring people together and to offer any comedian in the UK the chance to perform in Preston without having to go through the long rigorous process of applying for a short set, being placed on a waiting list, then working up to longer sets”

The “Live and Uncensored, Comedy nights” to be held fortnightly upstairs at The Adelphi pub, on Fylde Street promises to be “professional, entertaining, yet very affordable”

Bill Hicks-inspired Lewis, who took up comedy around five years ago and regularly performs at open mic nights in the city, said: “The evening will consist of at least six of the UK’s funniest up and coming comedians, with an open mic section too.

“Hopefully, if all goes well on the first night, finally Preston will have a permanent, cheap, comedy night.”

The night, which starts on Monday February 2 at 8.30pm, has already received a lot of interest for comedians and comedy fans in and around the city.
