‘Tiptoe Through the Tombstones’ is at St Mary’s Church Hall, Cop Lane, Penwortham Tuesday November 19, Thursday November 21, Friday November 22 and Saturday November 23, at 7.30pm each evening.

Crusty old lawyer Mortimer Crayle and his secretary Zoe have gathered the remaining Tomb family members at the old house to inform them of their inheritance.

But Crayle has designs on the inheritance, which demands the death of all the Tombs.

Fog descends on the gloomy mansion and in the cobwebby corridors things – and people – are seldom what they seem.

With poison in every decanter and mysterious disappearances into secret passageways, host and guests alike join the increasing number of bodies in the cellar.

A glorious spoof by the author of ‘A Tomb With a View’.

Tickets £5.50, £5 concessions. Tel: 03707 705945.

Also later this month, Grimsargh Players present Noel Coward’s ‘This Happy Breed’ at Preston Playhouse Theatre. The play is directed by Mary Jones and Jackie Calvert.

Just demobbed after the First World War, Frank Gibbons settles in Clapham with his wife Ethel, their children Reg, Queenie and Vi, Ethel’s mother Mrs Flint and Frank’s sister Sylvia.

They find that one of Frank’s army pals is their next door neighbour, and his son soon becomes a faithful admirer of one of Frank’s daughters.

The life of this respectable working-class family is vividly portrayed over the nineteen years from 1919 to 1937, in what became a classic of its period.

The play runs from Wednesday, November 20 to Saturday, November 23. Tickets £8 and £7 (Children & OAP’S.)
