Blackpool’s Tower Circus will once more ring to grunts and groans and the slap of skin on canvas as the Summer Slapdown gets underway on July 29.

The shows, promoted by Megaslam Wrestling, will take place at 2pm and 7pm and promise to feature the biggest names in wrestling from the UK.

The events are returning to the Tower after 10 years away and shows in February and Easter have already whetted the appetites of Fylde grapple fans.

A spokesman for the promoters said: “‘It is a bold move for us to present weekly shows in Blackpool but one that I truly think will pay off.

“We have some of the biggest names in European wrestling coming to the resort and no show will be the same.

“I hope the locals will get behind this truly fantastic spectacle.”

Different shows are promised each week and upcoming bouts include CJ Banks from Southport, Manchester ace Bubblegum, Mexico’s El Ligero, the family pairing of Saxon and Cousin Joke and Russia’s Boris Koslov.

And the Megaslam Ladies, featuring Lizzy Styles, Lucy Gibbs and Ruby Summers, will also be competing.

The spokesman added: “We are asking for support of the town.

“These shows cost a lot to put on, from the venue to the calibre of wrestlers and it is only possible to keep bringing this type of entertainment to the town if Blackpool gets behind it.

“You do not have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy our shows, it features something for the whole family.”
