Tribute singer to help charity night '˜Shine'

GARY Barlow tribute singer Dan Hadfield is hoping to help a local charity '˜Shine' at a major fundraiser to help young people suffering from bereavement.

The celebratory charity night at Ribby Hall in Wrea Green in support of the Child Adult and Young Persons bereavement support group (CAYP) and tissue donation is the brainchild of nurse Kelly Baines.

Kelly, who works in the Coronary Care Unit at Royal Preston Hospital is the link nurse for the bereavement team and has been supporting the charity group for the past few years.

She has decided this year to go bigger and better in her efforts to raise vital funds for their work

The 37-year-old said: “I have lost family members and know the feelings/emotions and sadness that comes following bereavement and how important the right support makes a huge difference. Also supporting bereaved relatives/friends and carers in my work, I can offer some support and guide them to support at a later date.”

The event, featuring the number one tribute singer Dan will be hosted on Friday September 2

There will also be a disco, a silent auction, buffet and raffle on the evening.

Kelly added: “In 2014 with my family I did a sponsored walk and raised just under £200 for the charity. Last year I decided I wanted to do something bigger and better as a fundraiser and came up with organising a charity night. CAYP are pleased I am raising money to help the charity continue its excellent work.”

CAYP is a bereavement support service , facilitated by specialist nurses. The group provides services for children, adults and young people.

People can self-refer to the service; GP’s also refer people to the groups.

The support groups meet once a month at a set venue. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to express their feelings, in a support groups tailored to their age range

The charity completely replies on Charity fund raisers and donations in order to keep the service running.

Monies raised are used to provide arts and crafts equipment, tea/coffee facilities, pay for venue to hold the group, advertising, books and equipment. Funds are also used to aid expansion of the service.

Kelly is currently looking to local businesses and groups willing to support the charity with donations and prizes.

Tickets are now available and tables of 10 can be bought for £225 plus site fee.

There is also a payment plan to help spread the cost of tickets. Dress code is smart/casual, no trainers.

All money made on the night will be used to provide much needed support to those following a bereavement.
