A winter wonderland with a thrilling outdoor ice rink at its heart comes to life on Preston’s Flagmarket this weekend.

Throughout the festive period, every day except Christmas Day, until Sunday January 5, the centre of our city will be packed with fairground rides, seasonal cheer and, of course, skaters!

Traditional Christmas log cabins will serve up a feast of festive food and drink to keep the revellers warm.

There will be a bar serving mulled wine and spiced cider alongside the usual tipples and even minced pies!

And an exciting selection of children’s fairground rides will be on hand, including ice road simulator, big wheel and even 100ft swing chairs.

It’s all being set up to lure Christmas shoppers into the heart of Preston while giving them a break from shopping and a way to entertain the children.

Sessions on the rink will start every hour on the hour and skaters get 45 minutes on the ice for an entry fee of £6 including the hire of your skates, or family tickets for £20.

Tickets for skating can be bought on the day at the Winter Wonderland box office or in advance from the Visitor Information Centre, in Lancaster Road, Preston.

The Winter Wonderland opens its doors tomorrow at 11am until 9pm and again on Sunday until 7pm. On weekdays, it opens from 11am to 9pm each day and until 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays for late night shoppers.
