Businesses collect food for town's homeless
EMPLOYEES at a Chorley-based business have been challenged to battle it out and collect as much food and household goods as they can, each hoping to gather more than the other to donate to a homeless charity.
Starting on Monday, staff at Chartered Financial Planners, True Bearing will begin their drive to collect non-perishable food and household goods until Friday, November 4 when everything will be handed over to Chorley Help the Homeless.
They are also calling on the business community to join them in their altruistic task called Food for Thought – Thought for Food week.
Susan Peary, managing director at True Bearing, said: “This isn’t the first time we have helped Chorley Help the Homeless, we try each year to help those people in Chorley who go hungry every day for a variety of reasons.
“The charity is instrumental in providing emergency food and household items to people experiencing crisis in Chorley.
“This time, we’re not only asking our employees to help but also the local business community to support us in our bid to collect as much food as we can for people who need it most.
“We urge all those within the business community to take part in the challenge and look forward to hearing stories of other firms taking part.”
