Lancashire wax firm included in top list

A fast-growing Lancashire company has been listed in the annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 for the first time.

Chorley-based Kerax has been placed at number 148 in the list.

The Sunday Times HSBC Intern​​ational Track 200 ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales, based on their latest two years of available accounts.

It is compiled by Fast Track and published in The Sunday Times each June, with an awards event in September, and alumni dinners during the year.​

Wax manufacturer Kerax has been transformed in recent years.

Its turnover has risen from £4m with 22 employees to a current £28m with more than 80 employees.

The seventh annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, was published with the Business section last weekend, on the Sunday Times digital edition, and on its website from Sunday.

The International Track 200 awards dinner will be held at Marriott Grosvenor Square in London on Thursday 22 September.

Kerax chief executive officer Ian Appleton said he was delighted that the firm had been included in a such a prestigious list.

He was looking forward to attending the awards dinner.

Mr Appleton said: “We have plans in place to grow the business and we are continunig to expand.”

During the last general eleccampaign, Chancellor George Osborne visited Kerax’s Cowling Road HQ.

Mr Osborne chose to visit Kerax due to its recent success.

He heard how the wax firm was threatened with closure in 2005 but was now thriving.
