Remaining power supplies being restored

Engineers from Electricity North West have been working around the clock to repair damage and restore power to the remaining customers affected by the severe weather which hit the region yesterday.

Despite the difficult conditions, teams from the network operator have restored power to more than 17,500 properties since yesterday, many within a few hours.

Around 400 properties are now without power due to weather-related faults.

The remaining faults include 128 customers without power in Leyland, 58 in Kirkby Stephen and 52 in Wigan.

Mark Mercer, operations manager for Electricity North West, said: “I’m proud of the job our engineers continue to do today in difficult conditions to restore power to the majority of customers.

Cumbria was unfortunately impacted the most with the severe weather, but our teams have worked quickly and safely to restore customers as soon as possible and we expect the remaining customers to be restored today.

“While we have been able to restore the majority of properties, there may still be damaged equipment which needs repairs. If you see any fallen power lines please stay away and report them to us straight away.”
