Ranging from ‘good’, ‘requires improvement’ and ‘inadequate’, here’s what the CQC had to say about Preston’s service sector in October.

The Beeches Medical Centre 'requires improvement'. The provider is registered with CQC to deliver the Regulated Activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, maternity and midwifery services and treatment of disease, disorder or injury, surgical procedures and family planning. Part of the report reads: 'Governance systems and oversight of practice management documentation was not evident in some areas, such as the management of practice policies and employment records.'

Melrose Residential Home overall received the rating of 'inadequate' for their inspection. Found at 50 Moss Lane, Leyland, the service Melrose residential home is a care home without nursing care. The report reads: 'There was not enough competent staff deployed effectively to meet people’s needs and staff had not always been safely recruited.'

The report says: 'Some staff who administered medicines had not received formal training. People were supported by some staff who had not been recruited safely. Audits and quality assurance processes did not identify the concerns that have resulted in breaches of regulations.'
