75% of pupils achieved grade 9-4 in English and 65% achieved grade 9-4 in Mathematics; the highest attainment on record.

Headteacher, Mr John Hankin said: “We are very proud of our pupils who have achieved excellent GCSE results. We are particularly proud of their resilience and refusal to make excuses; despite the difficulties they faced throughout the pandemic. To achieve significantly stronger results than previous cohorts who have not had to face such challenging circumstances is testament to the hard work of pupils, parents and staff. We wish them every success in the future.”

One of a number of pupils with outstanding grades was Debashish Mukherjee, who achieved seven GCSE grade 9s, on top of a grade 7 and one distinction star in his BTEC Sport Science.

Debashish, who will be attending Cardinal Newman College next year, said: “I didn’t think I would do this well, especially in English. I’m really pleased”.

Casimir Ogbolu also achieved 7 grade 9s, a grade 8 and a grade 7, whilst his fellow aspiring doctor, Justin Philip, was awarded 6 grade 8s, 2 grade 7s and a 6.

Headgirl, Megan Wareing, who was amazed by her success, said: “I was nervous about coming into school and it’s such a relief to open my results and know I have achieved what I wanted to. I am excited to start a new chapter at Cardinal Newman College and ultimately persue a career as a primary school teacher.”
