Fulwood Academy GCSE results: staff and pupils celebrate impressive results despite pandemic struggles

Students at Fulwood Academy are celebrating their GCSE results today (August 25), after a challenging number of years of COVID disruption.

The academy say there were smiling faces across their premises today as students opened their results, with some students securing some of the best results in the school’s history.

Andrew Galbraith, the school’s new Principal, said: “We could not be prouder of the resilience shown through several challenging years since the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first year back to real GCSE examinations after two years of assessed grades.

“In a year of uncertainty pupils and staff have once again, really stepped up to the challenge of examinations this year.

“Despite the difficulties the hard work of the pupils and staff has paid off and I know many pupils have made considerable sacrifices during their studies to achieve these grades. All of us at the school are very proud of their achievements – both academic and the wider school contributions they have made.”

Notable pupils include Jada Noteman-Gayle, who achieved two Grade 9s and six Grade 8s, and will go on to study A Levels in Economics, Psychology and Politics at Newman College.

Jada said: “I’ve worked really hard for these grades over the last few years and I am so glad that my hard work has been recognised.”

Bethany Hilton achieved exceptionally, also, with two Grade 9’s, five Grade 8’s and one Grade 7.

Bethany is going to Newman to study Mathematics, Philosophy and Criminology, and says she is “overwhelmed and delighted.”
