School is leading the way across the North West

BOSSES at a Lancashire girls' school are planning to share their expertise with school across the region.

Penwortham Girls’ High has been officially declared a National Support School by the Government.

On top of that the Cop Lane school’s chairman of governors Lorimer Russell-Hayes has also been made a National Leader in Governance (NLG).

As an National Support School headteacher Karen Pomeroy will work with counterparts at schools across the North West in “challenging circumstances” to help then drive up standards.

She said that for the past three years the school has been working alongside Lancashrie County Council to provide school-to-school support.

Now her a team of staff has been nationally approved to go into other schools to help support teachers.

All of them have gone through a rigorous application process with the National College for Teaching and Leadership.

Karen said: “ This really is a proud moment for me and yet another success for our school.”

I passionately believe we have a duty to look beyond our school gates and support others wherever possible.”

She added: “Penwortham Girls’ is fortunate to have amazing teachers who deliver in the classroom day after day, year after year, and I’m thrilled that so many of our staff will get the chance to work with other professionals and make a difference to the lives of young people across the region. T

“The insights gained from working with other schools has definitely contributed to our current Outstanding status and will help us to secure our reputation for outstanding academic achievement long into the future”
