Skyline above Preston takes on new look as UCLan masterplan takes shape
Work the steel-framed Student Centre and new Civic Square are now underway in the Adelphi area around the main campus.
The 450 tonnes of primed steel, a staggering 1,520 pieces , are being lifted into place using mobile cranes which reach 16.5 metres in height in front of the soon to be expansive Civic Square.

Hide AdMichael Ahern, UCLan’s chief information and infrastructure officer said: “The vision for the campus and the world-class facilities it will provide are becoming increasingly visible.
“The scale and quality of the development is there for all to see and the benefits for students, staff and the community is becoming clear.”
The student centre will provide a reception area, informal learning spaces and student wellbeing support centre while the square will form an iconic gateway to Preston, providing flexible spaces for community, public, business and student uses.
The student centre was designed by Hawkins\Brown following an international RIBA competition,
