The warning was issued by police following a weekend which saw officers hand out over 117 fixed penalty notices from Friday, March 26 to Monday, March 29.

Incidents included at least three house parties in Blackpool which saw police issue more than £37,000 in lockdown fines in the resort.

Officers also issued a ticket to the owner of a garage in Hambleton after 25 to 30 were found gathering inside.

Lancashire Police have now urged people not to become complacent as lockdown eases across the country.

A spokesman for the force said: "We know this relaxation of the regulations will be very much welcomed (including by us!).

"However, most of the rules are still in place to keep everyone safe...and as we had to break up several large parties this weekend we’re now asking that people don’t become complacent.

"We want everybody to enjoy the long Easter weekend but most of all we want everybody to stay safe – so we ask that you stick to the rules that remain in place which will hopefully mean we can continue on the roadmap."

Two households or up to six people can now meet outdoors - what you can and can't do

People in England will be able to meet up outdoors in groups of up to six people, or as two households, as the first step in relaxing lockdown restrictions in England comes into effect today.

The new rules mean that people can meet up outdoors following the 'rule of six', meaning they can be from any number of different households, so long as there are no more than six people present.
